Our Story. The History and Future of The Foursquare Church

Foursquare Today. The Legacy Continues.

The Foursquare Church continues to make an impact today with a vibrant community of credentialed ministers, leaders, missionaries and congregation members in the U.S. and around the world.
Watch this short video to learn more about where Foursquare is in the world, and how Foursquare is making an impact around the world today.

Who are Foursquare pastors?

U.S. Foursquare leaders are young and old, men and women, and are serving congregations of many ethnicities and languages. The Foursquare Church currently has more than 88,000 credentialed ministers serving around the world.

What does a Foursquare member look like?

Foursquare members look like you. Some like music, have broken marriages, great kids, difficult upbringings, interesting (and not so interesting) jobs, and the list goes on. But, one thing they all have in common is the opportunity to accept the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ. The Foursquare Church currently sees 247,464 in our local U.S. churches in an average month.
Read first-hand stories about some of our members across the country to find out how these passionate people have been forgiven by Jesus and are now serving their churches and cities. Read We Are Foursquare stories.

Is it possible to check out a local Foursquare church?

You bet! In fact, we’d love it if you joined us for a church service. What started at Angelus Temple in Los Angeles in 1923 has since expanded to 1,719 churches located in the U.S. alone; one is bound to be near you! Locate a local Foursquare church.
Once you’ve selected a church in our church locator, be sure to download the free welcome packet, located in the upper right hand corner of the screen. This helpful PDF includes a map to find the church, a little bit about the pastor and contact info so you can find out when services are held.

How can I become a Foursquare pastor?

Do you feel called to formal ministry within The Foursquare Church? Whether you are called to serve at a local church, as an evangelist or as a missionary—or perhaps all three like Foursquare founder Aimee Semple McPherson—we would like to support you on your journey of serving God. Learn more about how to get your Foursquare credentials.

Are missionaries really normal people like me?

Hard to believe that these people who have moved to new locations around the world are really just normal people with families, hobbies and an occasional craving for Starbucks—but it’s true!
Foursquare has been built on a strong foundation of missions work since the very beginning. Our founder, Aimee Semple McPherson, went on her first overseas missions trip in 1910 at the age of 19; now Foursquare has expanded into 140 countries. We currently have 100 Foursquare missionaries and missionary families living around the world. Some have views of beautiful beaches or highrise buildings; others are surrounded by immense poverty and may not even have electricity.
Get to know more about these missionaries and their families by catching up on our Missionary Spotlights.
You can also support missionaries through prayer or online giving.
Or perhaps God is tugging on your heart to become a short-term or long-term missionary yourself. We would love to support you! Learn more about missionary opportunities and how to get started.

I’d like to go to a Foursquare school. Does that opportunity exist?

Yes indeed! We have you covered from preschool through your master’s degree. Whether you have a munchkin that needs a daycare program, or you are looking to obtain your undergraduate or master’s degree, we can connect you with a program that is perfect for you and your family.

I have a question about Foursquare. Who can help me?

If you didn’t find the answer you were looking for on our About page, please let us know! Fill out this handy contact form and someone will get back to you, usually within 48 hours.
